Move gracefully around the floor with this progressive waltz style that works with all waltzes - not just country. We will also learn the Traveling Cha Cha and the Horseshoe.
Waltz - Beginning & Beyond
Fridays 6:30pm, Sept 12-26
This classic and elegant ballroom dnce is known for its graceful, flowing movements, characterized by the rise and fall in three-quarter time. Learn to glide across the floor with the gentle circular movements of this popular classic dance. This class will carry-over into October when we will combine with Foxtrot. The two dances share a number of similar elements and it makes sense to intersect the two styles of dancing.
Teen and Young Adults - Swing Time
1st & 3rd Saturdays 11:00am and 4th Fridays 7:30pm
Starts Sept 6 - Ongoing;
$10/class
Swing and social dance classes specifically for teens. We know these kids have busy schedules so class times are designed with flexibility. We hope to have everyone there consistently but students can join any time and come when it works for their schedules.
Practicum- Beyond Beginner/Intermediate Dancers
Wednesdays 7:30pm; ongoing
If you are beyond the basics and need to learn more technique and variety, this class is for you. Every week we pick a different dance to work on and explore. We emphasize technique, how to amalgamate steps into fun new combinations or sometimes learn new steps altogether, then show you how to make your dancing shine!
Friday Friends - Beginners and Beyond
Fridays 6:30pm
Foxtrot
A fun and friendly dance that is often considered the most social of dances. Learn to glide around the floor with your partner in this walking style dance.
NON-PARTNERED DANCE CLASSES:
Dance for Every Body
Wednesdays 11:00am; Starts September 24; ongoing
$15 per class suggested donation; care givers are free
This class is designed for anyone who wants to explore and improve their movement potential through music and dance. Last spring I did a training class with the director of the Dance for PD program from the Mark Morris Dance Company in New York, where the program originated in the US. Dance for PD Oregon hosted the event and has been working to develop classes for people with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions because we know scientifically that dance and music helps our brains, our bodies, and our moods. I’m excited to bring the program to Cedar Mill. Seated and standing options available for all abilities.
Dance for Fitness & Fun
MWF 9:00am at Lakewood Center for the Arts in Lake Oswego
Zoom link available to join from home
Fee: $120/month or $15/class drop-in
This is the more advanced version of the Dance For Fitness LTD class. Everyone is welcome. We definitely power through with dance after dance, but if you know your basics, you can catch on to the routines pretty quickly. I give cues and instruction throughout. And mostly we just have a lot of fun dancing together!
